About

My name is Tyler Wilson and I am a sophomore from Palos Verdes, California
I currently train with Paige Dendiu, Lauren Dendiu, Judy Martin, and Sarah Cline, and I show two amazing horses: En Plus du Givre (“Enzo”), my hunter, and Catch It (“Churro”), my equitation horse. Enzo and I currently compete in the 3’ Children’s Hunters and plan to move into the 3’3” Small Junior Hunters in the coming year. Churro is my partner in the 3’3”–3’6” equitation medals. Both horses have taught me so much, and I am incredibly grateful for them.
Over the past two years, I’ve achieved top results in competitive equitation and hunter divisions. Some highlights include placing 4th in the CPHA Foundation Finals, winning the NHS multiple times, earning high point Children’s Hunter, and finishing 4th in my first Dover Medal. I also placed 11th in the Hunt Seat Finals out of 40+ riders and have consistently been in the top 4 in most 3’3”–3’6” medals I’ve entered. Additionally, I am an active catch rider often riding and showing horses for people in both the hunters and equitation.
Beyond the show ring, I pride myself on being hardworking, positive, and a strong team player. Sportsmanship is extremely important to me, and I make a point to encourage others and bring a positive attitude to every situation. I’ve taken on leadership roles at the barn by helping younger riders, working pony camps since 2019, packing tack trunks for shows, and stepping in wherever needed. While our barn does have grooms, I try to take on as much as I can, from cleaning tack to putting my horses away.
Outside of riding, I’m active in several organizations, including Las Niñas Charity, French Club, Sea Queens, and Friendship Club. I also have two years of experience playing volleyball, which taught me teamwork, quick decision-making, and how to absorb instruction effectively. These qualities translate into my riding, where I’m always focused on improving and learning. Academically, I am very strong with a 3.9 GPA and have an interest in pursuing forensic psychology or a veterinary field in college.
When it comes to competition pressure, I manage nerves by slowing my thoughts and focusing on my time in the ring rather than comparing myself to others. If something goes wrong, I take a moment to regroup and reset before heading back in, which helps me perform at my best.
Looking ahead, my goal is to combine my passion for riding with my academic ambitions, create unforgettable memories, and continue to grow as both an athlete and a person. Riding in college is truly the dream, and I’m excited for the opportunity to represent a team, challenge myself, and contribute positively to a program.
